Trace pulled up his pant leg to examine the scrape from climbing up to the cave opening. He was relieved to see that it was little more than skinned up only a few inches, with dried beads of coagulated blood on a few rawer spots.
Becky’s sleeping bag was next to his, Miranda lay on a spread bag beside Bobby’s, and Shelly’s bag was alone at the back of the cave between the shaft openings. The fire just outside the entrance lit the space inside and provided enough warmth that sleeping on top of the bags was comfortable. To one side of Trace lay the stack of wood that he and Bobby had gathered. They were set for the night.
